So often people ask me when is the best time to come to Botswana, and the truth is there is no bad months in my opinion. Each season and each month provides something unique in an area. In my January newsletter I shared the amazing opportunities that Savuti provides in the new year. From carmine bee-eaters riding on the back of Kori Bustards, and predators in the beautiful newly sprouted grass.
For me another exciting time of the year is March-April on the Chobe river! This is our flooding season. Huge volumes of water slowly work their way down to the Chobe river all the way from the highlands of Angola. This the time for beautiful blooming waterlilies, an abundance of waterbirds, and charismatic bull elephants enjoying themselves in the many flooded channels.
Here are a few images from the last two years on the Chobe river, I hope you enjoy!
